Description
Nevada City, nestled in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, was founded soon after the great California Gold Rush, which began in 1848. A Winter Evening in Nevada City depicts the town as it would have appeared around 1906 as visitors busily finish their holiday shopping on Broad St. during a break in the winter storms. The gold rush is now long over and one can see the subtle transition taking place between the Old West and the Modern era.
